Going Green
The ARACY 2009 National Conference Organising Committee is striving to reduce the impact on the environment associated with hosting a Conference. The following activities have been implemented to reduce the negative impacts:
- Minimising the amount of print collateral
- Printing on recycled paper
- Electronic marketing
- Promoting electronic registration
- Working with the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, a 6 Star Green rated venue, on a range of measures including composting food, recycling bins, signage and menu selection
- Selection of accommodation properties that have environmental policies in place
The ARACY Conference has recognised that the largest impact of any major event is the transport related emissions and more than half of the delegates will use air transport to attend the Conference. A carbon offset program has been introduced for delegates if they choose to participate. This can be purchased at the time of registration or if you forget, it's not too late to do this at the Conference. The friendly staff will be able to assist you.
In addition we are pleased to announce the Conference Partner:
PRINTING
Delegates are asked to be mindful of printing materials from the Conference website or pre-arrival information sent to you. All information and more will be in your Conference Program book given to you upon registration. Please do not print unless necessary.
CARBON OFFSET YOUR TRAVEL TO THE ARACY CONFERENCE
Carbon Neutral has been selected as the preferred carbon offset provider for the ARACY Conference.
There are a number of ways you can offset your travel to Melbourne before, during and after the Conference:
- Through your airline
- Online as you register to attend the Conference
- The Meeting Planners will also take payments during the Conference. Please visit the registration desk.

HOW TO CALCULATE YOUR CARBON OFFSETS
Step One
Calculate your estimated air travel impact by working out the number of round-trip kilometres you will use to attend the Conference. We have already done the calculations for you from major Australian cities*.
All flights are assumed to be direct and economy class. If you are flying business or first class, please double your offset cost.
